PhysiciansWhat is a General Surgeon?Drs. Burandt and Duncan are General Surgeons; physicians specially trained in disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, breast, abdominal wall, trauma, and perform endoscopic procedures as well as open and laparoscopic surgery. This includes operations involving the esophagus, stomach, intestines, colon, appendix, hemorrhoids, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, reproductive organs, thyroid, lymph glands as well as breast, skin, tonsils, and hernias. Our practice includes comprehensive screening, evaluation and treatment of benign and malignant (cancer) disorders. In addition, we offer acute and intensive care for the severely ill or injured, including emergency and trauma surgery. Recent advances in medical technology allow the surgeon to utilize flexible scopes (endoscopy) to look into the stomach, colon, lungs, abdomen, and pelvis. Endoscopy can reduce or eliminate the need for some open operations. Laparoscopic surgery is also available for the treatment of gallstones, abdominal and bowel disorders, hernias, and other conditions. A full range of inpatient and outpatient services are available through our office and Cheboygan Memorial Hospital. Many operations can be performed through our Same Day Surgery Program. |
